Meet the owner
Doug Carey, the owner and founder of Atlas Capital, has over 27 years of experience in the financial markets. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst with a masters degree in Economics from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and a B.S. degree in Economics, with an emphasis in Finance, from Ball State University where he graduated summa cum laude.
Mr. Carey first got his start managing money in 1997 when he became a portfolio manager for National City Bank helping to oversee over $10 billion in assets. He managed money for pension funds, 401(k) funds, mutual funds, large companies, and endowment funds. Most recently Mr. Carey helped build WealthTrace, a financial and retirement planning software company, where he designed and created software to help individuals manage their entire financial picture. With his broad array of experience Mr. Carey has dealt with and thoroughly understands everything from the most complex investments to the simplest equities and treasury bonds.
Mr. Carey has spoken at numerous conferences on topics of fixed income securities and how the economic downturn of 2008/2009 might affect different security types and sectors of the financial markets. He has appeared on radio programs discussing political issues, has been published multiple times in journals and has written for websites discussing economic and finance issues. He is currently a contributor to one of the top financial news sites in the world, Seeking Alpha, where he has had over 500,000 viewers. In addition, Mr. Carey is very active in the community and has donated time and money locally and at the state level. In his free time he enjoys gardening, golfing, reading, camping and hiking with his wife, three young children, and two dogs.
